SIX NEED-TO-KNOW STEPS BEFORE YOU DESIGN YOUR SILKA ENTRANCE DOOR
Our upgraded Kärben Collection combines next-gen materials and technology, integrated smart features and a bold new design direction. What will yours look like?
With real ceramic finishes, smart locking, LED lighting, and a carbon fibre-reinforced core, the newly-upgraded SILKA Kärben Collection of hybrid aluminium entrance doors is built for homeowners looking to turn heads.
There’s never been a better time to design an entrance door that does more, for style, security, and your home’s long-term performance, which is why we’ve also upgraded our online Doorbuilder tool.
Here’s what to consider when designing yours.
1. Start with structure
At the core of every SILKA Kärben entrance door is a carbon fibre-reinforced Thermafill® core, offering outstanding strength, thermal efficiency and long-term durability. Unlike standard uPVC or composite doors, SILKA hybrid aluminium doors are engineered to deliver the highest levels of performance – with a reassuringly solid feel, yet ultra-sleek look.
If you’re interested in energy performance or upgrading the full glazing system in your home, it’s also worth exploring our guide to energy saving glazing and Thermafill® technology. We also like this independent guide to energy-efficient glazing and high-performance doors from the Centre for Sustainable Energy for a deeper dive into what to look for.
2. Define your style
The updated Kärben Collection is built on a design-led platform, giving you the freedom to create (or ask us to create!) the door that best suits your home, safe in the knowledge that there will be no compromise on quality or performance. There are three new models, Canova, Bernini and Angelo, each with a distinct, premium character.
Today’s home upgrades are all about clean lines, open spaces and high-end finishes, and your entrance door is no exception. The right design can become a standout feature, especially when paired with complementary windows and sleek aluminium frames. 3. Choose a finish that stands out
One of the most striking updates in the new SILKA Kärben Collection is the introduction of our bonded Italian porcelain ceramic surfaces – a finish you won’t find on standard aluminium, uPVC or composite doors. Available in four refined, earthy tones, Corten Rust, Ghost Grey, Dark Shadow and Ivory Coast, these textured panels give your door an architectural look, that’s designed to last. Unlike sprayed colours or laminated foils, the ceramic surface is impact-resistant, UV stable and highly scratch-resistant, making it ideal for high-traffic entrances where durability matters just as much as design.
4. Light it up
Your entrance doesn’t switch off when the sun goes down and with optional LED lighting on models like Canova and Angelo, it doesn’t have to. A slimline light strip built into the door casts a soft glow as you approach, giving you a warm welcome home (and your guests an invitation with added wow factor!), while showing off SILKA innovation and design at its best. It’s a simple detail that adds serious impact, especially in darker months or shaded areas.
5. Go smart – or keep it classic
The SILKA Kärben range now comes with fully integrated smart technology, allowing for fingerprint recognition, keypad entry and smartphone control via the Siegenia platform. Because the tech is factory-configured and housed within the sash itself, the finish stays clean and uninterrupted.
If you’re not ready to embrace full smart functionality, no problem, the system is modular, so you can specify what you want, without any implications later on.
6. Don’t forget the detail
Handles, side panels and frame colours all contribute to the final look of your entrance. With the SILKA Kärben Collection, these are designed to complement each model perfectly – and can all be previewed using our simple online Doorbuilder tool.
You can experiment with combinations, get inspiration, and generate a specification ready to share with your local installer.
Why settle for standard?
“We’re not here to compete with ordinary,” says SILKA’s Managing Director, Asa McGillian. “As homeowners become more design-aware and tech-savvy, they’re asking for more and more from their entrance doors and that’s where SILKA comes in.”
The new Kärben Collection is available for pre-order now, with full availability from autumn 2025. Whether you’re updating your own home or designing a space from the ground up, this next-generation range gives you the freedom to create something truly exceptional.
